The last CHES Club was too much for Troy to handle.

Oh, and Troy?  Please take note: do this in college, and you'll wake up with a penis Sharpie'd on your forehead.

Poem of the Day

The God of Thunder went for a ride
Upon his favourite philly.
"I'm Thor!" he cried,
The horse replied:
"You forgot your thaddle, thilly!"

Via MSNBC:

Dustin Pedroia ran away with the AL [Rookie of the Year award] Monday.

Oh, by the way, did I mention that he played the last ~2 months of the season with a broken bone in his left hand?

Red Sox second baseman played the final two months of the season with a cracked hamate bone in his left hand, the Boston Herald reported Saturday.

Pedroia said he didn't know when the injury occurred, but that it was discovered by an MRI and bone scan on Sept. 10. Pedroia had surgery Tuesday and is wearing a soft cast. [...]

Pedroia, the American League rookie of the year favorite, hit .283 with two homers and 10 RBI in the postseason. After Game 4 of the AL Championship Series, he hit .387.

Yeah.  Dude's legit.

Anyway, congrats, Dustin.  All of your hard work paid off – big time!

Click-to-activate going the way of Clippy

If you've used Internet Explorer in the past ~1.5 years, you've no doubt been inconvenienced by the fact that you have to click on Flash animations/Java applets/etc. to get them to work.  Well, no more.  Great news from the Internet Explorer team today:

Back in April 2006, we made a change to how Internet Explorer handled embedded controls used on some webpages.  Some sites required users to “click to activate” before they could interact with the control.  Microsoft has now licensed the technologies from Eolas, removing  the “click to activate” requirement in Internet Explorer.  Because of this, we're removing the “click to activate” behavior from Internet Explorer!

This isn't an earth-shattering announcement by any means, but I'm still very happy about it.  Just one less annoyance I have to put up with in my daily life.

The only downside?  You likely won't get this update until April 2008 or beyond.

We’ve got a crawler

DSC_00290029

Troy has just barely started to crawl.  For the past month or so, he has been doing this thing where he'll get on his hands and knees, and then rock back and forth before collapsing to his belly.  On Sunday, he finally crawled a little bit across the carpet to get to one of his toys.

Actually, that was the second time he crawled.  The first time, he was really hungry, so, being the kind and loving parents that we are, we taunted him by putting his bottle about 3 feet in front of him.  He moved like the wind.  It was a 1/4-Japanese blur of fleece and drool.  Carl Lewis, eat your heart out.
