Best steak this side of… anywhere.
We drove up to Chico last night and had dinner at the 5th Street Steak House in celebration of Kris’s, Kathy’s, and my birthdays. Now, IMO, I can BBQ a pretty damn good steak, but I have nothing on the folks at 5th Street. My Rib eye was so tender, juicy, and flavorful that I almost keeled over and died at the table from taste bud sensory overload. It was magnificent. Sublime. A thing to revere. IOW, it’s good stuff.
I can’t say this about many places, but I would drive 4 hours round trip just to eat at this restaurant. If you’re ever in Chico and you’re looking for a good steak, look no further than the 5th Street Steak House. And make sure to get the Garlic Mashed Potatoes. Mmm mmm good.

Chick-Fil-A has the most polite drive through attendants I have ever encountered. So much so, in fact, that I am considering going back there every day for lunch just to hear how nice my ass looks in these jeans.
Okay, that’s obviously a lie – I mean, they couldn’t possibly see how great my ass looks in these jeans because I was sitting in my truck in the drive through – but still, the politeness and courtesy of the employees was totally unexpected and a welcome change from what you’d experience at a typical McDonalds or Jack in the Box.
As for the food? Well, it was nothing special, but it was good. If you’re looking for something different, then I recommend you give it a shot. If nothing else, you’ll have a pleasant customer service experience.
May your stomach be gloriously full by this evening. May your midnight turkey sandwich be all that you hoped it would be. May your plumbing be able to withstand the inevitable onslaught. And, most importantly, may you enjoy your time with your loved ones, giving thanks for all that is good in your life.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Matt and Katie had us over for dinner last night. They served up a delicious dish of pork with some sort of spicy pumpkin-flavored sauce. It was very tasty.
Anyway, muchas gracias, Matt and Katie!

Let me count the ways:
Really, what more could you ask for in a meal? 3B, you rock my world.
(A free virtual ChocoTaco to the first person who can guess what I had for dinner.)
And without fail, those days are always the day after Kelly makes her famous 5-Methane-Detector-Alarm Chili.
I wonder if they stock the first aid kit with Beano…
With the adult obesity rate in the U.S. hovering somewhere above 60%, this is exactly what we need:
Abel Gonzales, 36, a computer analyst from Dallas, tried about 15 different varieties before coming up with his perfect recipe — a batter mix made with Coca-Cola syrup, a drizzle of strawberry syrup, and some strawberries.
Balls of the batter are then deep-fried, ending up like ping-pong ball sized doughnuts which are then served in a cup, topped with Coca-Cola syrup, whipped cream, cinnamon sugar and a cherry on the top.
Invented by a computer geek, who, as a group, probably live the most sedentary lifestyles. That's exactly what we need – more overweight nerds.
I suddenly have the urge to go to the State Fair of Texas.
We had everyone over for dinner last night. It was an Italian-themed meal: bruschetta, lasagna, and some sort of custard dessert. We also had plenty of Birra Morretti to go around. It was fantastic. Anyway, thanks to everyone for coming over, and a special thanks to the Cobbs for bringing Porter over to keep Homer entertained.
